Bai Vong Beach is an attractive beach in Phu Quoc island. It’s the best place for you to spend your holiday there with your friends and family.
Bai Vong Beach, on the east coast 15km from Duong Dong, is emerging as an alternative gateway to Phu Quoc. Since it is on the east coast, this would be a good place to stay in the wet season, when the monsoon blows from the west, and seas on the west coast get choppy. It costs only 190,000 Vietnamese Dong (US$10) to make/complete the voyage to Ha Tien, on mainland Vietnam, using a Cantho Vinashin ship. Introduction of the ferry service should spur economic development in the greater Bai Vong region, since it is rather isolated from the rest of the island due to poor roads. Bai Vong might be only 15km from Doung Dong across the middle of Phu Quoc but it is hard, bone-crunching ride. If you are coming from the north, you will find Bai Vong just past the Ham Ninh fishing village. It is a gem of a beach with warm water and motorbike trails in the sand. There are supposed to be some local restaurants here too.
Why it is special?
Vong Beach is a gaping bay on the southeast side of the island. It’s sandy and lined with trees, but the water here is often thick with jellyfish. For many visitors Vong Beach will be their first impression of the island because this is where the majority of passenger boats from the mainland dock. The large, long beach is impressive enough, especially with the forested hills of Phu Quoc National Park rising behind it. But Vong Beach is more of a port than a place to relax: at present there are at least two more long concrete piers under construction here, stretching hundreds of metres out to sea, in anticipation of the rise in tourist numbers in the coming years.
What to explore at Bai Vong Beach?
Just to the south of Ham Ninh, Bai Vong is a broad and very shallow beach, with a fine pale sand. Ideal for picnics and paddling, the waters aren’t great for snorkelling, but with a bit of shade and a handful of very basic places to eat at, it’s a fine option for a couple of hours.
Find out the palm lined beaches of Bai Vong, with a couple of local restaurants serving local tasty food. Follow the tracks by motorbike to find the more remote parts of these swallow beaches .It is also a good place to shoot best photos with wild and beautiful beach, a place you can forget your cares.
Sunsets & Sunrise: Besides walking along the beach you can go to the either of the two piers here and take in the break taking scenery. The sunsets and the sunrises on the pier are quite magical with the sky lighting up in various shades of red, pink purple, and orange.
Fishing: Grab a fishing rod, a hook, and some bait (shrimp or small squid) and fish off the piers. It is a great activity to do while watching the sunset.
Anchovy Processing: You can visit a local anchovy processing plant nearby.
